Senator LeMieux Announces Senior Leadership Team

U.S. Senator George LeMieux (R-FL) today announced his senior leadership team.

Kerry Feehery will serve as Chief of Staff; Vivian Myrtetus will serve as Deputy Chief of Staff; Ben Moncrief will serve as General Counsel; Michael Zehr will serve as Legislative Director; Ken Lundberg will serve as Communications Director; and Carlos Curbelo will serve as State Director.

"My priority is serving the people of Florida and this team will help me achieve that goal," said Senator LeMieux. "I have confidence in the skills and talents this team brings and have faith in their commitment to serving the best interests of Florida's families."

In announcing his senior leadership team, Senator LeMieux noted the decades of public service the team brings to the office.

"This group has diverse and extensive experience serving Florida at various levels of government," said LeMieux. "My chief of staff has worked for two U.S. senators from Florida and our governor. Kerry and the rest of the team will bring the kinds of insight and problem solving skills that will benefit the people of our state."

BACKGROUND

Kerry Feehery was most recently the Director of the State of Florida's Washington Office under Governor Charlie Crist. Prior to that, she served as Communications Director for U.S. Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL). Feehery was a staff member on the U.S. Senate Budget Committee under Senator Don Nickles (R-OK), Communications Director for the Electronic Industries Alliance, and also worked in various capacities for U.S. Senator Connie Mack (R-FL).

Vivian Myrtetus recently served as Vice President of CoreMessage, a public relations and government affairs firm based in Florida. Previously, Vivian was a top adviser and communications director for Florida Governor Charlie Crist and held a variety of governmental affairs and communications roles with the Attorney General's Office, Department of Education, and Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Before joining the public sector, Vivian started her career in South Florida where she spent years managing broadcast news operations at several top-rated TV stations and graduated cum laude from San Francisco State University and with honors from Miami Dade College.

Ben Moncrief served as legal counsel to U.S. Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) and as chief counsel to the U.S. Senate's Special Committee on Aging. Before coming to work in the Senate, Ben served as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge James H. Hancock and spent several years as a commercial litigator with the regional law firm of Bradley Arant Rose & White LLP (now Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP). Born in Pensacola, Ben holds degrees from Birmingham-Southern College (B.A., 1999), the University of St Andrews, Scotland (M.Litt., 2000), and the University of Virginia Law School (J.D., 2003).

Michael Zehr has served in the U.S. Senate for ten years in a variety of roles including Minority Staff Director for the U.S. Senate's Special Committee on Aging, Legislative Director for Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) of Florida, Legislative Assistant for Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky (R-KY), and Legislative Assistant for Senator Tim Hutchinson (R-AR) of Arkansas. He has earned masters degrees in both National Security and Biotechnology from the U.S. Naval War College and Johns Hopkins University, and he received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of Virginia.

Prior to joining Senator LeMieux's office, Ken Lundberg served as Press Secretary and Communications Director to U.S. Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL), Communications Director for the U.S. Senate's Special Committee on Aging, and as Communications Director to U.S. Representative Ander Crenshaw (R-Jacksonville, FL). Prior to his public service, he worked as a broadcast journalist covering Congress for several state news networks. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies from Boston University graduating summa cum laude.

Carlos Curbelo is the founder of Capitol Gains, a public and media relations firm in Miami, Florida. Throughout his career, Curbelo has served as strategist and spokesman for several campaigns and candidates including Senator John McCain, Senator Fred Thompson, Governor Charlie Crist, and Representatives Lincoln and Mario Diaz-Balart. Curbelo graduated from the University of Miami School of Business with a major in Political Science, and will be leading the Senator's efforts in the State.
